Eisenstein's 1925 film dramatizes the 1905 mutiny aboard the Russian battleship \"Potemkin\" and is seen as one of the most influential propaganda films of all time. The master German graphic artist Hans Hillmann opts for striking simplicity in his approach. The iconography of Potemkin's black gun turrets against a white background affords the viewer instant recognition of the subject.
