The Best Movie Posters of 2025

December 25, 2025

A round up of some of our favorite movie posters of 2025, let us know if there's anything we missed! Be sure to also check out Adrian Curry's end of year list over at MUBI.

Eddington

GrandSon

The first teaser poster for Ari Aster's Covid-era neo-western makes bold use of David Wojnarowicz's iconic 1988-89 work Untitled (Buffalos), pairing it with the best tagline of the year. We were thrilled to have Ari take over the gallery in July and curate a selection of posters for films that inspired Eddington. Released by A24.

Bugonia / Dogtooth

Vasilis Marmatakis

Posters for Yorgos Lanthimos's latest Bugonia (Focus Features) and the new 4K restoration of his 2009 film Dogtooth (Kino Lorber), both created by Vasilis Marmatakis. This is the second poster Marmatakis has created for Dogtooth. the first took a very different minimalist approach. Read The New York Times feature on Marmatakis.

Telluride Film Festival

Telluride Film Festival

Daniel Clowes

We were overjoyed to see this year's Telluride Film Festival poster created by the one and only Daniel Clowes. Clowes's only other film related works we're aware of are his iconic 1998 one sheet for Todd Solondz's Happiness (which he subtly updated for this year's Criterion release), the poster marking the 2001 opening of the now closed Landmark Sunshine Cinema, and cover art for the Criterion releases of Sam Fuller's Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss.

Beautifully painted official one sheet for Mike Leigh's latest. Released by Bleecker Street.

Dying

Perfectly selected crepuscular screengrab for Michael Roemer's 1976 documentary which received its first theatrical release in January from our friends at The Film Desk. Roemer died in May at 97.

Love Hotel / Familiar Touch / By The Stream / Blue Sun Palace

Brian Hung

Four great (and very different) posters from the always excellent Brian Hung. In April, we were honored with a visit from Lee Kang-sheng and Blue Sun Palace director Constance Tsang (watch Tsang's MUBI Picks at Posteritati episode). Love Hotel and By The Stream released by Cinema Guild, Familiar Touch released by Music Box Films, and Blue Sun Palace released by Dekanalog.

Resurrection

Sam Smith

Sam Smith's radiant two color screenprint for Bi Gan's Resurrection looks even more striking in person. Released by Janus Films.

Dracula

Mariana Grigoruta

The official poster for Radu Jude's Dracula is the only movie poster we know of that features a handmade beef salad, created by the "queen of beef salads" Mariana Grigoruta. Released by 1-2 Special.

Empire Design

Playful typographic triptych for Bradley Cooper's Is This Thing On?. Released by Searchlight.

Misericordia

Misericordia

Octavio Terol

This unofficial fan poster for Alain Guiraudie's Misericordia is a clever riff on the original poster for Pasolini's Teorema to which Guiraudie's film—one of our favorites of the year—bears some resemblance.

Caught By The Tides

Huang Hai

Adapted from the original Chinese poster by Huang Hai. Released by Janus Films.
